6/23 Will Rogers Ranch House and Santa Monica Museum of Flying $95

Join us on this fabulous tour highlighting the history and heritage of American aviation when we visit the Santa Monica Museum of Flying and the former estate of one of the world’s most passionate aviation enthusiasts of the early 20th century, Will Rogers. Your excursion first takes you to the remarkable 186-acre ranch of the movie icon and “cowboy philosopher,” now a State Historic Park in Pacific Palisades. A key backer of American aviation of his time, Rogers trumpeted the wonders of flight and championed air travel in his famous newspaper columns published across the U.S. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the 31-room ranch house and expansive grounds. Then, explore the evolution of aviation on a docent guided tour of the Museum of Flying, which features 22,000 square feet of displays and interpretive exhibits on the history of flight and the development of the aviation and aerospace industry in Southern California. You’ll see nearly two dozen aircraft chronicling flight from its beginning with a replica Wright Flyer, all the way to the jet age, with the BD-5 micro jet. Free time for a no-host lunch in Santa Monica before visiting the museum.
