5/17 Griffith Observatory and
(no host lunch) at Olvera Street and/or Phillippes

The construction of this are deco observatory was completed in the early 1930’s and has since undergone a major renovation, which has enameled it as one of Southern California’s most popular landmarks. The Observatory’s state-of-the-art Samuel Oschin Planetarium blasts off amazing light shows providing a visual feast for the eyes. Notwithstanding the new technology simply walk outside the observatory for outstanding views of the Los Angeles area. Anyone even vaguely interested in astronomy will find the exhibits and planetarium shows fascinating. No-host lunch at the famous Olvera Street and/or Phillippes French dip sandwich prior to the observatory.

5/22 Visit to the Malibu Getty Villa $65

This original, renovated Getty Museum in Malibu features Roman architecture and Etruscan antiquities dedicated to the arts and cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. Enjoy the lovely ocean views, gardens, classical architecture, and no-host lunch at the café on the premises. Optional audio tour available.

5/23 Tour of the Kellogg House in Pomona, Lunch, & Kellogg Arabian
Horse Center

Uniquely located on a wooded hilltop overlooking Cal State Pomona. A guided tour of the sprawling 1926 estate is included, as well as buffet lunch at Kellogg West Conference Center. Following a tour of the Arabian Horse Center, you will make a brief visit to the Farm Store at the Kellogg Ranch, which offers products harvested at Cal Poly Pomona.

5/26 Los Angeles Fashion District
and Saturday Sale

Join us for a day of bargain-hunting at L.A.’s famous Fashion District during their special Saturday Sample Sale held at the California Market Center. You’ll have an opportunity to buy designer apparel and accessories at or below wholesale prices from numerous manufacturers selling samples, overruns and overstock designer clothing. The Fashion District (formerly known as the Garment District) houses the largest concentration of fashion-related businesses in the Western United States. Thousands of visitors flock here for bargains in clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry and more, as well as to grab a bite at many of the surrounding eateries. Your Tour Manager will offer suggestions on the best hotspots and will steer you in the right direction to discover your favorite shopping treasures! On the return trip home, relax with a complimentary glass of wine on the coach and enjoy some “show-and-tell” where you’ll get to show off your favorite purchases and bargains.

5/27 Quality time at the Grove Retail & Entertainment Complex, plus L.A. Farmer’s Market $59

Spend 4 full hours at the colorful, historical Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles! It’s still the best grocery store in L.A., but many fans believe it’s the prepared food, not the groceries, which make it such a hit. Cuisines served in restaurants and stalls from all over the world are offered, and the atmosphere is lively. Behind Farmer’s Market lies “The Grove,” which boasts great stores, including Nordstrom and a three-story Barnes and Noble. The bus has lots of space to store purchases. The Grove also boasts a variety of restaurants and outdoor cafes. Fun!

5/30 Salton Sea and San Andreas Fault Experience, plus the Wild Bird Center $65
Once a thriving vacation destination, the Salton Sea is a fascinating body of water in the Coachella Valley that came into being decades ago after a break in a levee flooded the valley. Most desert dwellers are aware of the infamous Sea’s existence—but do they know the story behind it? Travel with us and discover its rich history, current status, and hopeful future from our expert naturalist guide. 5/31 Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple $95

Join us on this fascinating and enlightening trip to visit the Hsi Lai Temple (pronounced “She Lie”), the largest Buddhist monastery in the Western hemisphere. The Temple serves as a spiritual and cultural center for those interested in learning more about Buddhism and the Chinese culture. Located in Hacienda Heights, 30 miles east of Los Angeles and situated on 15 acres, the very size and majesty of Hsi Lai Temple is awe-inspiring. You’ll tour beautiful theme gardens, shrines, and more, including the Main Shrine, the central courtyard and a museum exhibiting a collection of fascinating Buddhist artifacts from different countries around the world. Your trip includes a delicious vegetarian lunch buffet at Hsi Lai followed by a docent-guided tour of the Temple, gardens and museum.

Booking and cancellation policies:  Reserving space on a day tour (as well as multiple- day trips posted on our Day Tour menu) is simple—phone our office and indicate how many spaces you would like.  No money is required when making a booking, unless the trip is within two weeks of operation.  Canceling before payment is collected incurs no penalty.  All cancellations after payment is made incur a 5% processing fee.  For cancellations made less than 15 days before a trip operates, amount of refund will depend on whether tickets, meals, and extra costs were incurred in procuring the reservations.  Cancellations less than a week of tour date—no refund or credit.
