Day 1: LAX/ GUATEMALA CITY. Your adventure begins at LAX as you board your American Airlines flight shortly before noon. Connecting in Dallas, you will fly direct to Guatemala City, arriving the same evening. Transfer to your 5-star hotel and unpack once for next six nights. Evening at leisure. GUATEMALA CITY MARRIOTT

Day 2: GUATEMALA CITY. Morning orientation tour visits the new Ixchel (Mayan Textile) and Popul Vuh (Archeology) Museums. Also, walk to the main Plaza where the National Palace and Cathedral are located. (BB)
Day 3-7: GUATEMALA CITY. Four days at leisure to explore this fascinating Central American country. Opt to tour Antigua, the country’s original capital, declared a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979, or to go to Solola, where you can enjoy some time at the town’s colorful open market.
Another recommended excursion is to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala’s majestic wonder, described by many as the world’s most beautiful lake. Framed by massive volcanoes and towering mountains, its shores are lined with vibrant Indian villages.

Another optional day tour not to be missed is to Tikal, an incomparable ancient Mayan site of towering temples and sophisticated stone dwellings. With its elaborate carvings and evidence of ancient mathematical and astronomical excellence, Tikal reflects the splendor of a 2500-year-old civilization. The Tikal National Park is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Americas; many outstanding Maya art treasures have been discovered here.
