Tel Aviv

Nov. 30: TEL AVIV/TIBERIAS, ISRAEL.
Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, be met by your guide and drive by motorcoach to your 1st class hotel in Tiberias, Roman town founded in 20 B.C. on the Sea of Galilee.  Dinner and overnight.  PRIMA GALIL HOTEL  (D)



Dec. 1:  FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS. 
Drive to Nazareth and enter the Church of the Annunciation.  Then visit the Magdala Project, site of excavations of 1st Century Jewish fishing village where synagogue from the time of Jesus has been discovered.  Following lunch, drive to Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount.  Walk to the area of Tabhga, site of the miracle of the multiplication of loaves and fishes.  Then continue to Capernaum, Jesus’ base during his ministry in the north.  (B,L,D)


      
Dec. 2:  GOLAN HEIGHTS 
Drive north to the Banias, whose water serves as one of the sources of the Jordan River and is the site of Caesarea Philippi.  Visit Mt Bental, overlooking the site of decisive tank battle during 1973 Yom Kippur War, and then take an inspiring boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, where tradition holds Jesus walked on water and calmed the storm.  (B,D)



Dec. 3: THE DEAD SEA/JERUSALEM.
Drive south via Jordan Valley past Jericho to Qasr el Yahud, traditional site on the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized. Optional baptism ceremony. Continue to Masada; ascend via cable car; tour Herod's fortress and site of The Zealots' last stand against the Romans in 73 A.D. Then, visit Qumran, where Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Float/swim in Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth.  Drive to Jerusalem; check into your hotel. PRIMA PARK  (B,D)



Dec. 4: OLD JERUSALEM. 
Drive to Mount of Olives for panoramic view of Old & New Jerusalem. Walk down mount to Garden of Gethsemane; worship and learning in garden.  Enter Old City via Lions’ Gate; walk along Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the Cross to Christian Quarter. 


Church of the Holy Sepulcher

Visit Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the traditional site of the crucifixion, and the Western Wall, sacred remnant of the 2nd Century Temple.  Continue to David’s Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper on Mt Zion.  (B,D)



Dec. 5: TEMPLE MOUNT, CITY OF DAVID, AND BETHLEHEM
Drive to Old City and tour the Temple Mount. Visit City of David, where Jerusalem began 3,000 years ago.  Drive to Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherds' Field.  Return to Jerusalem and visit the Israel Museum, housing the Shrine of the Book and some of the Dead Sea scrolls found in Qumran.  Then see the famous Second Temple model of the city of Jerusalem.  (B)



Dec. 6: YAD VASHEM/TEL AVIV
Visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and Memorial.  Return to Old City for free time to explore and shop on own.  Continue to Garden Tomb.  Drive to Tel Aviv.  Dinner at hotel.  PRIMA CITY.  (B,D)


Masada

Dec. 7: JAFFA AND TEL AVIV. 
Walking tour of the ancient seaport of Jaffa. See the entrance to the house of Simon the Tanner (Tabitha, Acts 9:36) and hear the story of Jonah and the whale (Jonah 1). Visit Independence Hall, where the State of Israel was declared by David Ben Gurion on May 14, 1948 Walk up beautiful Rothschild Blvd to arts & crafts fair on Nachalat Binyamin Street pedestrian mall.  Free time for lunch at the fair or at Carmel Market, Tel Aviv’s outdoor market.  (B,D)



Dec. 8: CAESAREA AND TEL AVIV. 
Drive to Caesarea National Park, with archaeological ruins spanning over 2000 years including an impressive Roman theater and beautifully preserved aqueduct.  Return to Jaffa and Tel Aviv for leisure time and independent lunch.  Festive farewell dinner tonight and transfer to airport for flight back to USA or to Eilat (Petra).  (B,D)


Dec. 9: TEL AVIV/USA 
Your memorable tour of the Holy Land ends today when you return to Los Angeles.
