Like many of the world’s most fascinating places, the pre-Alpine lakes of Italy are a place where history, cultures, and regions meet. The stunning waterscapes boast the perfect semi-Mediterranean climate during spring—a great time to visit, with flora in full bloom, before the throngs of summer tourists descend. Start with four nights in Lake Como, Europe’s deepest lake set against a mountainous backdrop. Verdi, Rossini, Wordsworth, Shelley—Lakes Como, Maggiore, and Garda have always been a magnet for Europe’s romantics, and always will be. The same can be said of Verona, home to Romeo and Juliet and a Roman arena where, since the time of Christ, Veronese have sat on the same 44 tiers of stone to watch gladiators, executioners, and divas. Your tour concludes with two nights in Venice, perhaps the most romantic city on earth. On a gondola, seal your love with a kiss under the Bridge of Sighs at sunset! A.C.T. has packed this program with comprehensive sightseeing (whisper headphones provided throughout), daily breakfasts, nightly dinners (four with included drinks!), and transportation aboard everything from cable cars to motor coaches and boats. Every place listed on our itinerary is featured in Patricia Schultz’s best-selling book, “A Thousand Places to See Before You Die.” This trip represents the best of northern Italy—early reservations suggested!
