A.C.T. invites you on a circle tour of compact and uncrowded Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, an enchanting island known as the Jewel of the Indian Ocean off the tip of India. The exotic country is filled with historical temples and remarkable archaeological and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Elephant and leopard wildlife safaris, tea plantations, fantastic national parks, turtle hatcheries, handicrafts, friendly people, flavorful food, and pristine beaches make Sri Lanka one of the world’s hottest destinations. Since prehistoric times, the nation has been multi-ethnic and multi-religious. Its culture is therefore very diverse and the island offers colorful events throughout the year. Limited group size!

Day 1: DEPART LAX
Your journey to exotic Sri Lanka starts today at LAX.  Fly Cathay Pacific for only $999, including taxes!



Day 2:  COLOMBO/NEGOMBO. 
You will be welcomed by your Tour Manager at Colombo Int’l Airport and transferred to the palm-fringed beach town of Negombo.  Rest of the day at leisure.  HERITANCE NEGOMBO (or similar)

Day 3:  NEGOMBO
A guided walking tour of delightful Negombo, cinnamon capital of Sri Lanka, showcasing historical sites including its Dutch fort dating back to 1678.  Festive dinner showcasing Portuguese, Dutch, Malay & Indian cuisines.  (B, D)



Day 4: HABARANA, MINNERIYA NAT’L PARK.
This morning, glimpse coastal livelihood in action at the bustling Negombo fish market and auction.  Then drive to Hanarana and check into your hotel.  In the afternoon, travel through Minneriya Nat’l Park’s lush tropical forest to view wild elephants, sambar deer, buffalo, crocodile, and other wildlife.  HABARANA VILLAGE   (B,D)

Day 5: VILLAGE TOUR, HOME-HOSTED LUNCH AND ANCIENT POLONNARUWA. 
Discover what life is like in Hiriwadunna, a Sri Lankan village of less than 2,500 people.  All food is grown locally, as well as medicinal ginger.  Enjoy lunch in a family home before continuing to Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO Site where kings ruled over 800 years ago.  Tour the archaeological park.  (B,L,D)



Day 6:  SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS, TEMPLES OF DAMBULLA, COOKING DEMO, KANDY. 
Journey to Sri Lanka’s most dramatic site, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, dating back 1500 years, once overlooking ancient cities.  Continue to Dambulla, another UNESCO Site, to view golden temples, statues, and huge wall paintings that inspire Buddhist pilgrims.  In the afternoon, take time to stroll food and spice markets and sample regional favorites at lunch in a local restaurant.  Overnight in Kandy.  OZO KANDY (B, L)



Day 7: TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH RELIC, KANDY MARKET, HOME-HOSTED DINNER.
Morning visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a UNESCO Site believed to house a tooth of Buddha.  Stroll Kandy Market for treasures and enjoy dinner at a family home.  (B,D)

Day 8:  TEA EXPERIENCE IN NUWARA ELIYA. 
Travel to a tea estate and factory to observe all facets of “Ceylon” teas.  Proceed to Nuwara Eliya, a lush hill town that evoke nostalgia of colonial British Ceylon.  A fun “tuk tuk” ride through town ends the day.  Tonight is at leisure for you to explore the restaurants in Nuwara Eliya on your own.  ARALIYA GREEN HILLS (B)




Day 9:  TRAIN TO ELLA, YALA NATIONAL PARK. 
Board a train that takes you through lush landscapes to the hill town of Ella.  Take photos of stunning Ravana Falls, the widest waterfall in the country, at Ella Gap.  Continue to Yala National Park, a wildlife paradise boasting the highest density of leopard in all of Asia.  Dinner at the lodge.  CINNAMON WILD YALA  (B,D)

Day 10:  SAFARI.
Morning at leisure. Set out in a 4X4 Jeep safari this afternoon with an expert guide and keep an eye out for storks, crocodiles, Sri Lankan leopards, eagles, raptors, flamingos, and other indigenous animals.  Compare stories at dinner!  (D)



Day 11: KOGGALA BEACH. 
A gorgeous drive along the coastal road takes you to fabled Koggala Beach, the longest beach in the country with soft pristine sand and rolling surf.  Koggola is a place rich in history and beauty with calm blue mangrove-fringed lagoons.  Enjoy diving, snorkeling, swimming in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean!  KOGGALA BEACH HOTEL  (B,D)

Day 12:  GALLE TOUR, MEDITATION WITH BUDDHIST MONKS.
Morning drive to the pretty colonial town of Galle, bursting with exotic scents of spices and sea air.  Tour the town and see the famous stilted fishermen that perch on handmade structures of wood and twine to catch their fish.  Later, visit a nearby temple, where you learn the art of silent mediation from Buddhist monks(B)



Day 13:  MADU RIVER SAFARI, CRICKET CLUB, COLOMBO. 
Enjoy a scenic cruise this morning along the Madu River, passing dozens of islets forested with mangroves.  View the 200 year-old Kothduwa Buddhist Temple, watch locals cultivating cinnamon on Cinnamon Island and see traditional fishing boats glide by.  More than 46 species of birds reside in this area, along with huge water lilies and colorful butterflies.  The cruise ends at a turtle hatchery, where you learn about the rescue and protection of turtle eggs.  On to the capital city of Colombo, where you will visit the renowned Colombo Cricket Club, where you may get a glimpse of a cricket match/practice session.  Share memories tonight at our farewell dinner.  ZMAX FAIRWAY HOTEL.  (B,D)

Day 14:  DEPART SRI LANKA.
