ABOUT THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE:  On April 8, 2024, sky watchers will be treated to a rare and spectacular celestial show — the longest visible eclipse in nearly four decades.  Although it will miss California entirely, 2024's "North American Total Solar Eclipse" will darken skies all the way from Mexico to Canada, along a stretch of land about 70 miles wide.

“People who descend upon this ‘path of totality’ for the big event are in for an unforgettable experience,” said eclipse expert Jay Pasachoff, an astronomer at Williams College in Massachusetts.  "It's a tremendous opportunity and a chance to see the universe change around you.”  The path of totality first touches Mexico at Mazatlan. It then enters the United States at Texas, cuts a diagonal all the way across the country to Maine, and visits the maritime provinces of Canada.  The Moon's shadow rushes at about 1,800 miles per hour—yet more than four minutes of complete darkness will envelope Mazatlan mid-day at 12:07 p.m.!

Day 1: BOARD THE LUXURY SHIP PRINCESS DISCOVERY
in Los Angeles (San Pedro) and set sail at 3:00 p.m.

Day 2 & 3:  CRUISING.
Enjoy your ship’s many amenities during two relaxing days at sea.

Day 4 & 5: CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO.
8:00 a.m.  El Arco, a rising rock archway welcomes visitors to this active city at the entrance to the Sea of Cortez.  Activities include whale watching excursions, glass bottom boats, passes to all-inclusive Pacific resorts, and a tour of Baja California’s historic Village of Todos Santos, initially founded as a Mission in 1724.  On April 7, depart for Mazatlan at 5:00 p.m.

Day 6: MAZATLAN, MEXICO.
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Mazatlan is the sportfishing capital of the world. Arriving, passengers will catch sight of the El Faro lighthouse, the second-tallest lighthouse in the world. Opt to tour mountain villages in the Sierra Madres. The Solar Eclipse starts at 10:51 a.m. and ends at 1:32 p.m., more than twice the duration of the 2017 eclipse. View the event in town or from the ship.

Day 7: PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO.
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Since this port was discovered as a prime vacation spot in the 1960s, it has become home to luxury resorts and beautiful villas. But, the city's tranquil past is still evident in its charming courtyards, cobblestone streets and markets. The most popular excursions visit Gringo Gulch, the town square and unique cathedral. Shopping, horseback riding, and pristine beaches abound.

Day 8: MANZANILLO, MEXICO.
7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  Manzanillo is an energetic port with exquisite beaches. The city's main attraction is Las Hadas resort, a village of whitewashed cottages that mix Moorish, Mexican and Mediterranean styles. The posh resort was built in the '70s by a multi-millionaire and was the filming location for the movie "10." Other options in Manzanillo include deep-sea fishing and swimming.

Day 9 & 10: CRUISING.
Two relaxing days at sea.

Day 10:  DISEMBARK.
